The Langley Leafs - Major came out flying in the first period, dictating the pace and outshooting the Jr. Ooks 17-12. Their early pressure paid off when Taelyn Franklin, assisted by Zoe Alook, found the back of the net just 16:30 into the game to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The period was a parade to the penalty box, with four minors called, but neither power play could break through. The Ooks weathered the storm, thanks in large part to goalie Emily Baluk, who turned aside all 17 first-period shots to keep her team within striking distance.
The momentum shifted decisively in the second period. Abby Millar, who had taken a first-period penalty, redeemed herself in a big way. She scored an unassisted goal just 11 seconds into the period to tie the game, and then struck again at the 5:25 mark, this time with helpers from Kylie Bonnett and Ella Charest, to give the Ooks a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish. The Ooks' defense also tightened up, limiting the Leafs to just 7 shots in the frame while firing 16 of their own at Langley's Makana Mitchell.
The third period was an offensive explosion for the home team. Elliya Klaus broke the game open with the eventual game-winner at 16:11, assisted by Norah Ludlow and Allie Tkachuk. Langley's Abbie Labelle answered with a goal to make it 3-2, briefly giving the Leafs hope. However, the Ooks' depth took over. Lauren McDiarmid restored the two-goal cushion, assisted by Madden Critchley. Olivia Billsten then extended the lead, with Critchley and McDiarmid combining for the helpers. Norah Ludlow capped off the dominant 6-2 victory with a final goal in the last minute, assisted by Klaus and Maya Virani. The Ooks poured on 18 third-period shots to seal the win, with Emily Baluk securing the victory with a solid 32-save performance.
