The period grew increasingly chippy, with four minor penalties called, as the Nationals pressed for the equalizer.
Despite a final push from Bow Valley, which included outshooting the Rustlers 7-4 in the third period, Parker Fritz and the Jr. Rustlers defense locked things down to secure the win. The victory was a testament to Fritz's goaltending, as he faced a total of 32 shots and allowed just the one shorthanded goal, outdueling Gracyn Wold who made 24 saves in a strong losing effort for the Nationals. The Jr. Rustlers' ability to capitalize on their early chances and withstand a fierce second-period onslaught proved to be the difference in a tightly contested matchup.
