The Angels Pro Hockey squad secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Manitoba Mavericks in a tense defensive battle, anchored by a flawless 24-save shutout performance from goaltender Jordan Fillenberg. Despite being outshot 24-18, the Angels capitalized on their opportunities and played a disciplined game to protect their lead. The Mavericks, led by goalie Jordan Brewer who made 16 saves, applied consistent pressure but could not solve Fillenberg, who turned away all 10 shots she faced in both the second and third periods to seal the win.
The game's turning point came late in the second period. After killing off a slashing penalty to Gracie Macdonald, the Angels struck on the rush. Bella Bartel and Kassiana Tyliakos combined to set up Olivia Lockridge, who buried the puck with just 1:01 left in the frame to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. The Mavericks had their chances earlier, with Hudsen Stasynec taking a cross-checking penalty in the first, but the Angels' penalty kill held firm. The physical play continued in the second as Brynlee Anderson took a roughing minor, but once again, Fillenberg and the defense stood tall.
Any hope of a Mavericks comeback was stifled early in the third. Just 39 seconds after killing off an interference penalty to Espérance Halaburda, the Angels struck again to double their lead. This time, Addison Dupuis and Kadence Mortson found Taisyn Hofmann, who scored to make it 2-0 at the 9:21 mark. From there, the story was all Jordan Fillenberg. The Mavericks fired another 10 shots on goal in the final period, but Fillenberg was impenetrable, securing the shutout and the two points for her team. The Angels' efficient offense and stellar goaltending proved to be the perfect recipe to overcome a significant shot deficit and hand the Manitoba Mavericks a frustrating defeat.
