The scoring started midway through the first period as Tana Brander, assisted by Ava Rawlake and Bentley Baier, found the back of the net. Just under two minutes later, Harper Clark doubled the lead with what would stand as the game-winning goal, with helpers from Maya Macnab and Aubrey Waddell. The relentless pressure continued as Hayze Bensmiller made it 3-0 before the first intermission, capitalizing on a setup from Layla Smithson.
The second period was more of the same, with the Rustlers adding to their lead on an even-strength marker from Raya Babey, assisted once again by Rawlake and Tessa Weber. The Angels struggled to generate any sustained offense, managing only six shots through the first two periods against the stout goaltending of Allie Hillis. The physical play ramped up as the game progressed, with the Rustlers' Hayze Bensmiller finding himself in the penalty box three separate times. The Angels finally broke through on the power play in the third period when Kadence Mortson scored, assisted by Gabrielle Abrams, to avoid the shutout. However, it was too little, too late against a disciplined Rustlers squad that controlled the tempo and the shot clock from start to finish, securing a decisive road win.
