FSL Showcase Storylines January 13th
12U Angels Pro Hockey
Angels Growth
It was a weekend with a little bit of everything. An opening win, a loss, followed by a big bounce back win, and a close victory to close it out.
The Angels grew in more than points this weekend.
The slipped past Phantoms Female Hockey in a come-from-behind shootout win to start things off.
Playing the Jr. Rustlers twice on Saturday, they fell despite firing 32 shots on net in the morning, before a massive rebound in the form of a 7-0 shutout, where Ella Storms scored the first of two goals just 58 seconds into the game.
Sunday, they mustered a hard-fought 5-4 win over the Phantoms, where the hockey resembled ping-pong with its back-and-forth pace.
14U Calgary Glaciers
Near Perfect
It was nearly perfect for the Glaciers, who won their first three games and led late in the fourth before falling by a goal.
The excellent weekend vaulted them into sixth place alone and above .500, as well as earned them double-digits in wins with their 10th.
Calgary is led up front by Abbigail Mills, whose 10 goals and 27 points are tied for the 9th most in the division.
Meanwhile, Morgan Sloan and Alexandra Semenuk have been excellent between the pipes with impressive low goals against and high save percentage numbers.
16U Aurora HC
Aurora's Glow
The lone game on the 16U schedule had Auora HC goaltender Avery Lavery shining brightly in a 4-0 shutoutShe kicked out 12 in the first period, setting the tone, and four different goal scorers led the way offensively.
Lavery now sits second in the league with two shutouts, and her 2.83 GAA and .912 save percentage are very impressive.
The win gives Aurora HC a three-point cushion for 7th place and leaves them just three points back of sixth place in the division.
They are off until January 23rd when they hit the ice in Morinville.
