FSL Weekend Watch February 11th
14U Calgary Glaciers
Cool Customers
Playing in their home city the Glaciers iced the competition with a 3-1 record.
They gave up just four goals all weekend, as even in their loss they were scored upon just twice.
They revved up the offensive machine with 16 goals in four games and shut out the Mavericks in one contest.
They now sit five points out of fourth place, trailing Bow Valley and have five double digit goal scorers.
14U Jr. Rustlers
Winning Streak
After dropping a decision to Bow Valley, the Rustlers reeled off three straight wins.
They shut out the Glaciers 2-0, with Parker Fritz kicking out 23 saves.
From there it was skating past the Jr. Ooks and Angels Pro Hockey as Tana Brander had three goals in the final two games.
Raya Babey scored a goal in every game as the Rustler sneaked a point up on Bow Valley for third place.
16U Purcell Hockey Academy
Home Wins
Playing a home weekend in Kimberly, B.C., PHA put on a show with spectacular goals and efforts.
Yaan Yuen scored four times and added an assist against the Phantoms; it was her second six-point game of the weekend and second hattrick. Yuen has a six-game point streak with 20 points over that span.
Amy Leimgruber scored a beauty as part of her four-point weekend. The defender has 16 points in 17 games this season.
With a 3-1 weekend, they are now 18-1-1 on the season.
16U Angels Pro Hockey
Wall of Shields
Karina Wall didn’t do it all, but she did do a lot for the Angels. Facing 35 shots in regulation and more in the shootout, she led the Angels past Tri City 3-2.
Wall sealed the shoot out victory with a diving paddle save.
The Angels ended the weekend 2-2 with a win over Langley, where Jenna Shields kicked out 36 of 37 Leafs shots, including 18 in the opening period.
Wall and Shields, two perfect names for goaltenders.
